The Science of Music in 4th

The Science of Music in 4th

Yesterday, the boys in 4th class took the Luas into the National Concert Hall to take part in Quavers to Quadratics, an innovative programme that explores the crossover of the worlds of music and science through a series of hands-on workshops. With the help of some really talented musicians the boys spent the day doing four different workshops. Hearing Sound, which explored how sound is made from vibrations. Feeling Sound, which explored why different instruments are made the way they are. Seeing Sound, allowed the boys to visualise many forms of sound-waves using different scientific equipment, and Creating Sound was where the boys designed and made their very own musical instruments. The boys had so much fun and learned some really cool and interesting things about music. A huge thanks to the facilitators at the NCH for making the workshops so interesting.
